SCBA Mobile Service Technician Specialist Description
Position Summary
Position Summary
The SCBA Field Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and documentation of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment and related respiratory protection products. This position supports fire departments, industrial customers, and emergency response personnel by ensuring all equipment meets manufacturer specifications, NFPA standards, and applicable safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, flow testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on SCBA units, cylinders, masks, and related equipment
- Conduct hydrostatic testing and cylinder inspections as required
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate service records, testing documentation, and inventory logs
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, DOT, and manufacturer standards
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment status, repairs, and recommendations
- Manage service schedules and coordinate field appointments efficiently
- Maintain service tools, testing equipment, and company vehicle in a clean and operational condition
- Assist with equipment demonstrations, fit testing, and customer training when needed
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies while working in the field and at customer locations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in SCBA service, fire equipment service, industrial safety equipment, or mechanical repair preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage daily schedules
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various environments for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate tools, testing equipment, and service vehicles
Company Vehicle
This position requires the operation of a company vehicle. Candidates selected for this position will be subject to a pre-employment motor vehicle record review, as well as ongoing motor vehicle history monitoring throughout employment. This field-based position involves frequent overnight travel that includes, but limited to, overnight stays and multi-day trips.
Work Environment
This position involves travel to customer locations including fire departments, industrial facilities, and emergency response agencies. Work may be performed in service shops, customer facilities, and outdoor environments.
